Character Creation for Mobile App

The Challenge

A Web App agency needed personalized character illustrations for an app that helps users understand their own personal spending habits.

The Solution

I created 32 unique character models which represented each user’s personality test result, and also a set of 10-20 different choices for face including: hair style, eye shape, mouth, nose and glasses.

Design

Characters created reflected different personality types of spenders / spending habits. I also included a variety of easter eggs, such as “43110” on calculator and a custom band tee which said the company’s name.

I suggested taking a multiethnic route to ensure users from various backgrounds could build a relatable character. With extensive research of real people and trends, I was able to come up with a variety of characters that user’s could feel represented them.
